Transportable Power Wheelchairs: Generally weighing less than 100 lbs, these powerchairs offer mobility in a light package. Component parts assemble quickly and allow for easy transfer in and out of your car’s trunk. Transportable electric wheelchairs have a compact size ideal for confined spaces or narrow doorways. These lightweight frames easily fold or disassemble into manageable pieces making them the lightest and easiest powerchairs to take along with you.
Powerbase Power Wheelchairs: Identified by their motor and wheel placement, powerbase chairs provide a comfortable ride, a tight turning radius and great battery range. Powerbase electric wheelchairs offer a wide range of options for suspension, driving, seating and handling. Generally, these chairs have a low center of gravity, making your ride smooth, stable and safe. Some powerbase wheelchairs have suspension packages making them ideal for outdoor use; other powerchairs are designed with a very small turning radius, perfect for indoor use in tight quarters. Powerbase wheelchairs generally don’t fold or disassemble and need to be transported using lifts and ramps.
Heavy Duty Power Wheelchairs: Built for outdoor use, these powerchairs can handle almost any surface you’ll likely encounter on a daily basis. Heavy duty powerchairs have rear, front and mid wheel drive options, larger wheels and are designed to provide a smooth ride over rough terrain and up some inclines. Larger motors and longer frames allow and increase of torque over standard power wheelchairs.
Mobility scooters are designed for people who have some mobility but are challenged by slopes or distances. We offer a wide variety of mobility scooters to fit your needs. When selecting a mobility scooter one should consider where the scooter will primarily be used (indoors or outdoors or both), how often the scooter will be transported in a car and any specific seating/accessory needs.
Most mobility scooters are defined by four features which separate them from power wheelchairs: Scooters are directed by a tiller at the front of the base that steers the front wheel. This arm can be tilted and locked allowing a safe and comfortable ride for all users. Forward and reverse motion is controlled by two thumb levers. The seat of scooters is usually mounted on a stem, allowing many scooter seats to rotate from side to side. Finally, scooters have a base board instead of footrests. Let our staff help you through the process of finding the right mobility scooter to fulfill your needs.
